"We're Gonna Get There" Swiss O Week Theme Song

Tony was called on by the Swiss Orienteerungsverband to create a theme song for the gigantic 2009 Swiss O Week, held in the beautiful Muotatal. 3000 participants from 33 different countries clapped and sang along to both the English and Swiss-German versions of the song, culminating in a live performance at the closing ceremony by Tony himself.

The song "We're Gonna Get There", or in Swiss-German, "Mir Wärde's Schaffe", sung by Jasmin Schmid, is an energetic and positive rock ballad meant to reflect the excitement and fun of the week long event.

On the occasion of Bertrand Piccard's history-making circumnavigation of the globe in the Breitling Orbiter II, I officially made a donation of the flight's theme song, "The Gentle Conquest" to Piccard's charity organization, "Winds of Hope".  Dr. Piccard accepted the donation with gracious thanks.

"The Gentle Conquest" was written during the last full day of the 20 day balloon flight around the Earth.  It was first performed two days later, at a private dinner in the hidden mountain resort of Les Diablerets in Switzerland.  Dr. Piccard had escaped the glare of the world's press for a few hours to enjoy a relaxing evening in the company of his wife and daughters, along with the team from Swiss Meteo who were so instrumental in the flight's success.  As fate would have it, I was there that evening, visiting the inn's owners, who were close friends.  It didn't take much encouragement to scrape up a guitar and sing the song at table side, eye-to-eye with the protaganist and sudden world celebrity. It was an emotional moment as I finished the last chord and Bertrand got up from the table and with tears in his eyes embraced me saying, "Thank you for taking me on the flight again with your song".

A studio version was produced, and served as Piccard's introductory theme for public appearances after the flight.
